THE DILG-ARMM REGIONAL SECRETARY TOGETHER WITH THE MAYOR OF UPI TURNOVER THE LIVELIHOOD PROJECT UNITS TO THE BENEFICIARIES

On August 7, 2106, the multi-awarded mayor of the Municipality of UPI for his distinct leadership, Mayor Ramon A. Piang, Sr, requested the DILG-ARMM Regional Secretary, Atty. Noor Hafizullah “Kirby” M. Abdullah to be his important guest and partner in the turnover of the possession of livelihood projects to the beneficiaries. The memorable event happened at the entrance gate of the municipality.

 

The livelihood projects, under the Department of Agrarian Reform Bottom up Budgeting (DAR BuB) were composed of tricycle motor vehicle and “sikad-sikad”, a local dialect term. The number of beneficiaries came from the Tri-People community, the Muslims, Christians, and Indigenous People respectively.

Others who were present to witness the landmark event during the ceremony were the municipal Vice-Mayor, Kagawads and the Chief of Police.

The main objective of the activity were to provide the public with good livelihood, to live not violating the law, particularly avoiding illegal drug related activities, and to make the beneficiaries economically and financially stable.

Mayor Ramon A. Piang, Sr. said that if the beneficiaries were caught using and selling drugs and violating the laws of the land, including traffic rules and ordinances, then the units would be confiscated. He added that the government efforts of providing good and decent living should not be wasted.

“To the beneficiaries of the livelihood project, poverty is not a license to enter into drugs,” stressed Atty. Atty. Noor Hafizullah “Kirby” M. Abdullah. “We should use it in a good way because we are given the opportunity to start a decent livelihood,” he pointed.

Much smiles and evidence of hope were seen and observed after the beneficiaries got possession of the units.
