The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM), represented by Local Government Operations Officers (LGOOs) Majaramir Y. Sumail, LGOO II, and Fredelino E. Gorospe, LGOO VI, in partnership with Save the Children Philippines (SCP), together with Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBSC), conducted the data collection to capture the information needed for the Child Rights Situational Analysis (CRSA) held on July 16, 2019 at Barangay Rempes, Municipality of Upi, Maguindanao.

The general objective of the study was to generate analyses of the children’s rights situation and thematic priority needs (anchored from children’s rights framework of the UNCRC), including gaps and constraints and appropriate recommendations for government institutions, and other stakeholders in order to design relevant child rights-based thematic programmes that successfully addresses the developmental needs and rights of all children in the area.

The data collection was made possible through using data capture forms utilizing the tools of Key Informant Interviews (KII) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).

The target respondents consisted of specified number of children, adult men and women, parent leader, religious leader, tribal leader, local government unit officials, and ministries field officers. Questions were all related to children’s rights and political participation, including child rights governance.

The CRSA incorporates principles of the rights of the child in analyzing the situation of children in the region, and will serve as the framework for an advocacy campaign to urge local and regional governments to allocate the needed funds, and attention on pressing issues and concerns affecting children in order to improve their situation.
