Minister Sinarimbo Challenges the MILG Workforce

Interior and Local Government Minister Atty Naguib Sinarimbo in his opening statement challenged the local field officers to be at the forefront towards the Region’s campaign for moral governance and serve with utmost efficiency in extending technical assistance to the local chief executives and the local government units today at the start of the three-day LGOOs’ Retooling with the theme “Strengthening and Empowering MILG Field Officers as Stewards of Good Local Governance” held at Em Manor Hotel and Convention Center.

To meet these demands, Minister Sinarimbo recognised the need to enhance the technical efficiencies of the field officers to atune their activities with the Ministry’s thrusts and in effect bring positive results in carrying out its mandates and achieving certain level of performance.

The retooling aims to equip the Local Government Operations Officers (LGOO) and the Regional Technical Personnel with adequate knowledge and skills and instill in them proper attitudes and desirable values to enable them to perform efficiently and effectively the roles of an LGOO and/or their current mandated functions and responsibilities.

The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) as the primal agency mandated to assist the Chief Minister in the exercise of general supervision and regulation of local government units (LGUs) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as stated for in the Republic Act No. 11054, otherwise known as Bangsamoro Organic Law, is tasked to fully and effectively respond to the needs and demands of the local government units, thereby making them empowered and accountable.

The Retooling also serves to:

  1. Cascade the MILG Action Plan of Activities to field officers for implementation and provide measure on reporting at the local level;
  2. Discuss process, roles and responsibilities of the Field Officers and complementation to LGU activities
  3. Share latest updates, directives and other urgent & important matters and or clarifications on LG operations; and
  4. Provide a venue for LGOOs to renew appropriate working attitude and build strong camaraderie between and among them.
