BARMM Holds First RPOC Meeting

BARMM Interim Chief Minister and RPOC Chairperson Murad B Ebrahim Al Haj presided over the 1st Regional Peace and Order Council meeting today at the Office of thew Bangsamoro Goverment.

 ICM Ebrahim thru Executive Order No. 001 entitled ‘Constituting the Regional Peace and Order Council in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’ administered the oath-taking of the 50 plus members of the Council.

Chief Minister Murad B Ebrahim in his opening statement stressed that said meeting is one of the processes in assessing the issues on peace and order. It provides concerned entities a haven to carefully plan out strategic steps in stabilising the situation in the Region. He further stated I hat the convening of the RPOC is necessary as a means of proof to the National Government and all other stakeholders that the new Bangsamoro Government is committed to serve its mandate in accordance to law. It also signifies to its constituents that there are efforts to really address the issues in the Bangsamoro Region, specially in peace and order and public safety.

“We will utilise the Council as the platform for the new partnership between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and this government, providing opportunities to work towards peaceful BARMM,” ICM Ebrahim said.

He enjoined the Council to take crucial and active role in the fight against criminality, terrorism, corruption and illegal drugs.

The meeting was facilitated by the Ministry of Local Government headed by Minister Atty Naguib G Sinarimbo who is Head Secretariat of the RPOC.
