DILG-ARMM Secretary, Atty. Noor Hafizullah “Kirby” M. Abdullah, was interviewed by the members of the local media on January 11, 2018 at the Office of the Secretary.
The reporters were to ask and verify information, under the department’s mandated functions, for people’s information and education.
Secretary Kirby said that he was pleased on the appointment of Edwardo Año, as the new Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of DILG-Central Office. He believed with Año’s capacity to lead the department.
He also emphasized that the Local Government Units (LGUs) should comply with the requirements of the law and coordinate with the DILG-ARMM in the success implementation of different projects for the benefit of the public.
On the calamity fund, he stressed that the public should know that the fund should be used wisely yet the officials should not use the allocation without declaration of the state of calamity over the particular place.
“Somebody should write a verified letter to be sent to the department before we can investigate,” he said, answering the question related to Mayors with habitual absences.
“Lack of good governance,” he pointed, referring to the challenge of common causes of corruption.
